A 41-year-old Bel Aire man has been booked into jail after a fatal weekend house fire in Bel Aire.

The fire was reported around 2 a.m. Sunday in the 5900 block of East Flagstaff, which is near 45th Street North and Woodlawn.   Flames were coming from the home when crews arrived.  Bel Aire police said one person was in front of the house when crews arrived and another person was inside the home.   Crews were able to get the second person, a 67-year-old man, out of the home and he died later at a hospital.  The 41-year-old man was treated at a hospital and later released to police custody.

The man in custody was later booked into the Sedgwick County jail on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office is helping with the investigation.
