1. Night #2 of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago was still about the Harris and Walz ticket, but the Obamas took center stage. The 44th President of the United States Barack Obama said, “This convention has always been pretty good to kids with funny names who believe in a country where anything is possible”.
2. It was certainly a life well lived and then some. Maria Branyas Morera, the world’s oldest known person, has died at the age of 117. Born on March 4, 1907, in San Francisco, she moved to Catalonia, Spain, at age 8. Morera witnessed major historical events, including two world wars and the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, and she became the oldest known survivor of COVID-19 at age 113. She was active on social media as “Super Àvia Catalana” (or Super Catalan Grandma), amassing nearly 19,000 followers.
3. Patrick Mahomes is giving you a “peek behind the curtain” into the relationship between his star tight end Travis Kelce and the world’s biggest popstar, Taylor Swift. After a recent double date in Amsterdam Patrick said, “We were just having fun and enjoying a dinner just like anyone else would. That’s what makes it so great. We don’t make it more than what it is; it’s just friendship, fellowship and enjoying everyone’s success.”
4. Royal Caribbean’s “Icon of the Seas” Oasis class cruise ship is getting a sister. Sailing next year will be “Star of the Seas”. For comparison, Star – like Icon – will have 20 decks and measure 1,196 feet long and will hold 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew members. while Royal Caribbean’s newest Oasis Class ship, Utopia of the Seas, has 18 decks and measures 1,188 feet and will carry 5,668 and 2,290. Again…how does it float?
5. And it sounds like something out of a movie but the U.S. Government just hired a scientist who believe humans can beat aging by cloning ourselves and our brains into younger bodies, much like you’d put new parts on that classic car you’re working on. Yes, but my 57 Chevy isn’t going to reject the new oil pan I just found on Ebay Motors.
