Police are investigating the discovery of a body in an industrial area of west Wichita.
The body was found around 7 a.m. in the 8200 block of West Irving, which is east of the Kellogg and Tyler Road interchange. Police said the body of a 39-year-old man was found in the trunk of a car that was left in a field. He was wrapped in blood-stained bedding with several gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body.
Detectives said the shooting happened at the nearby Deluxe Motel at 8401 West Kellogg Drive, and they’re looking into the circumstances that led to the shooting.
