Wichita police are looking for a man who disappeared before his sentencing in a homicide case.
Police said 64-year-old Kevin Harris of Lawrence was out on bond and was scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday. He was one of two suspects in the murder of 51-year-old Jose Lumbreras of Wichita in August, 2023 near 13th and Broadway. Harris left Wichita after the murder and he was later found at an apartment in Lawrence. He was arrested after a 16-hour standoff with Lawrence police.
Harris had pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and he was wearing an ankle bracelet, but police said he cut the bracelet off. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anyone with information is urged to call 911, call investigators at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
