Today, the AWESOME is being poured out in Phoenix, Arizona; one cup at a time. Imagine being faced with the idea that your dad could die if he doesn’t get a much needed, life saving kidney transplant. Nine-year-old Forest Gomez got that news and rather than worry, he did something to help. He started a lemonade stand for his dad, Jorge. Diagnosed with kidney failure at 18, Jorge experienced a significant decline in his health three years ago, leading to the need for dialysis and a kidney transplant. With no insurance, the cost of the surgery ranges from $450k to over a million dollars. To make matters worse, the dad was diagnosed with heart failure last year, adding to his health struggles and financial burden. Jorge continues to stay strong for his son, and his family is relying on their faith to pull them through. A son, doing what he can to help his dad, Forest, THAT’S AWESOME.
