1. Some of the highlights of Donald Trump’s first appearance since the Democratic ticket was revealed.  Trump attacked Harris and Walz, agreed to 3 debates and claimed that the crowd that gathered before the Jan. 6th attack on the Capitol was bigger than that which gathered at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s famous “I Have a Dream Speech”.

2. It’s a no watering weekend as phase 2 of water restrictions continue and in case you’re wondering, violations are being handed out. Public Works Director Gary Janzen says, “We’re not proactively going out looking for people who are running irrigation systems when they’re not supposed to. Our goal here is education of the community and the value we have with conservation community-wide.”

3. There is a sign stealer in Minnesota that has nothing to do with baseball or football. Police arrested in a woman who was seen stealing yard signs, real estate signs and political signs. With over 240 signs in her possession, the value was over $1,000 which is a felony. To combat sign theft, especially headed toward the election, some people are putting air tags in their signs.

4. The next time you’re trying to win a prize in one of those claw machines, you may want to make sure the stuffed animal is dead.  A Pennsylvania game warden was called to a mini golf course when employees discovered a live groundhog living it’s best groundhog life, just chilling in the claw machine amongst the stuffies. It was safely removed but not before it saw its shadow which means we get 6 more weeks of summer.

5. and if you haven’t cleaned your microwave in a while, you may want to do it because all that is zapped is not dead. A mic microbiologist at the University of Valencia in Spain, and her colleagues swabbed 30 microwave ovens — cultured the samples in Petri dishes and found all sorts of creepy crawlies including bacteria and things called  extremophiles that can withstand the radiation, high temperatures and extreme dryness in these appliances.  Oddly, all the organisms that were found we all still cold in the middle.

AND THAT’S TRENDING.
