Crews from Hutchinson and several other departments were involved in battling a large building fire Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out in a building at 2404 East 4th on the city’s east side. One person was unaccounted for, but that person was later found safe. Two firefighters were taken to a hospital to be treated for heat-related conditions. Crews were rotating every 20 minutes to get proper rehabilitation and hydration because of the intensity of the blaze.
The fire was out later in the day but crews remained on the scene to watch for flare-ups.
Crews from Pretty Prairie, Buhler and South Hutchinson were at the scene, and the Newton and McPherson fire departments were asked to help with any additional calls.
