Today, the AWESOME is in Butte County, California. During the wildfires and the chaos of evacuations in remote areas, comes a story of bravery and compassion has emerged. On Wednesday evening one resident’s truck became disabled and they had to make a difficult decision to leave behind two adult Rottweilers and their puppies. The owner, deeply concerned for their pets, provided the responders with the truck’s location. However, the area was engulfed in flames, making immediate access impossible. Undeterred, Trevor Skaggs, a dedicated member of the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Search and Rescue team, sprang into action. He flew a helicopter into the perilous area, landed and ran for 1.5-miles to reach and rescue the stranded animals. The Butte County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue office said, “It’s been a horrific few days for our community and we are grateful to be able to share this amazing story.” Bravery in the face of danger for man’s best friend…THAT’S AWESOME.
