3. Today begins the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France. The special opening ceremony with Celine Dion and Lady Gaga singing and the 6800 athletes riding 90 boats 4 miles down the Seine toward the Eiffel Tower can be seen on NBC today at 12:30p. It’s expected to last 3 hours.
4. So, remember the big power outage last week. The huge flight delays and problems it caused in other industries. The company at fault, Crowdstrike, blamed it on a bad software update. They sent out an apology yesterday in the form of a $10 UberEats gift card, which didn’t work and crashed because UberEats shut it down thinking it was a scam. Not a good look, Crowdstrike
5. and U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized drugs from the same traveler twice in one week at the Seattle airport. The traveler was first caught on July 19 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport with over 12 pounds of ketamine, two pounds of codeine, and nearly three ounces of GHB after arriving from Amsterdam. After posting bail, he was caught again trying to board a flight to London with over a half pound of ketamine. He was arrested and charged with intent to distribute ketamine. I know Southwest just announced red eye flights, but I think this dude misunderstood.
