Rome, Georgia is home to the AWESOME today,. After the passing of his mother, 11-year-old Kayden wanted to help cover her funeral costs. For days he stood on the side of the road selling hot dogs with a sign that read, “Please Help Bury my Mama.” A passerby saw Kayden and shared his story on social media, which led to an outpouring of support from the community and beyond. His fundraising goal was $7,100. Thanks to the generosity of strangers from all over the country, the fundraising page has surpassed $80,000.

Overwhelmed by the community’s generosity, Kayden decided to give away the hot dogs for free as a gesture of thanks. He’s now living with his aunt, who says the extra money from the fundraiser will be used to ensure Kayden can enjoy activities and experiences like other kids his age, with the remaining money going towards his future needs, including education.

Helping a young boy during one of the worst times in his life, THAT’S AWESOME.
