The city council in Bentley has approved water conservation steps for its residents and water customers.

The city is going to what is called Stage 1, to inform local water users to limit some outdoor water use and make more efficient use of indoor water, such as washing only full loads of laundry, taking shorter showers, not letting faucets run and other steps.  Homeowners are also urged to repair plumbing leaks as soon as possible to limit losses and prevent higher water bills.  Bentley officials will be working on education by putting out water-saving tips with water bills and having messages on social media.

Bentley city administrator Tim Bryan said in a press release that the city purchases raw water from the City of Wichita, which is preparing for stage two of its drought response plan because of lower levels in the Cheney Reservoir.   Bryan said Bentley wants to be responsible partners with Wichita in water usage.
