JJ’s Star Spangled Salute honors Marine Veteran Juan Dominguez. Juan doesn’t remember a lot about the day his life changed forever, but he remembers enough. At age 26, Dominguez became a triple amputee when he was struck by an IED while serving in the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines in Afghanistan in 2010. After the accident that took an arm and two legs, Juan said “I was just happy to be alive at that point. I knew I’d figure it out.” A lover of music since he was 13, Juan formed a band with other disabled Veterans and called it “Resilient”. An appropriate name for a band whose mission is to help people get through things. Thanks to a music therapy program called MusiCorps and Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters, the group of musicians came together. The band has performed with everyone from Sheryl Crow and Ricky Scaggs to the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra. There new album is due out in September. Thank you Juan for setting such an inspirational example and THANK YOU for your service.
