Kansas Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall issued statements on social media in response to Saturday’s shooting at a Pennsylvania rally held by former President Donald Trump.

Senator Moran said “I am relieved that he is safe. I am praying for the victims and their families. Thank you to our law enforcement who acted quickly and prevented greater tragedy. Please continue to pray for our country.”

Senator Marshall’s statement read in part, “We, as a nation, need to pause and grasp the magnitude of this event. There is no place for this violence in civil society. We are praying for President Trump, all of those injured, and the innocent attendee who was killed and their family. Thank you to our law enforcement officers and the secret service agents who eliminated the attacker with swift justice.”

Kansas Democratic Congresswoman Sharice Davids issued a statement saying she is relieved that Trump is okay, and she added that political violence is never acceptable.
