Ascension Via Christi and Wesley Healthcare have issued numbers on the fireworks injuries that were reported in Wichita during the July 4th fireworks season.

Via Christi hospitals reported a total of 35 patients, with seven admitted to the burn unit, ten that were treated for minor injuries, and 18 in outpatient care.

Wesley Healthcare reported ten injuries, including one person who had third degree leg burns from a missile, during the period from June 27th to July 4th.  Three people had eye injuries, four had injuries to their hands, and three had leg injuries.    Wesley officials said there were no permanent injuries and all patients were discharged.

Wesley Woodlawn Hospital had five people with fireworks-related injuries on July 4th.   Four were treated and released and one was taken to Wesley Medical Center for surgery.  The Wesley West ER had a total of seven patients from June 27th to July 4th, and all were treated and released.    The Wesley Derby ER facility had six people injured during that time period, and they were treated and released.
