Severe thunderstorms that moved into Russell County late Wednesday night left one person dead and others injured. Strong winds blew over a number of campers at Wilson Lake during the storm.
The Russell County Sheriff’s Office said 64-year-old Christopher Montoya of Holyrood was found dead at Hell Creek Park. Three people were hospitalized with injuries from the storm, which brought 60 mile-an-hour winds to the area.
Cleanup efforts were underway and the Sheriff’s Office was warning visitors about travel in the area because debris might still be on roadways and in the water.
