Today we honor Chief Petty Officer Jonathan Yoos from Wichita.  Jonathan graduated from Southeast High School in 2002 and has been serving in the Navy for 19 years. Currently he serves the U.S. Navy assigned to Submarine Development Squadron 5 at Naval Base Kitsap, homeport of West Coast ballistic-missile and guided-missile submarines. Jonathan will be the first to tell you that the skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Wichita. “Having worked with and gone to school with people from all walks of life and a multitude of cultures, I found that taking the time to learn who you are working with and how to find common connections with your own values will pay off exponentially for everyone involved,” said Yoos. “In everybody I meet, I see that there are similarities across cultures. I like to think of it like a deck of cards. You’re getting all the same cards, they’re just in a different order and you have to find how to work with them. You have to learn how to get along with people.” Thank you for the great advice Jonathan and THANK YOU for your service.
