Republican leaders in the Kansas Legislature have announced a compromise with Democratic Governor Laura Kelly on a tax cut plan that will be considered next week in a special session.
Senate President Ty Masterson and House Speaker Dan Hawkins released a statement Thursday that confirmed the agreement.
The relief package implements a two-bracket tax code with multiple exemptions, and it cuts the tax on Social Security. Lawmakers will return to Topeka on June 18th for a special session. They plan to work on a tax cut bill and an incentive package to lure the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs to the state.
