Today we honor Veteran Orville Allen. Allen was a Veteran of both World War II and the Korean War and after his service, a long time educator in rural southeastern Missouri. At the age of 98, he was described by all who knew him as being in robust health. Sadly, he took a fall while out cleaning up storm debris in May and never recovered. During the painful time of saying goodbye, Orville was able to perform one final act of service – he donated his liver. Despite his age, doctors said because of his health the liver was viable and it was successfully transplanted into a 72-year-old woman. Thank you Orville for giving everything to your life well lived and THANK YOU for your service.
