The City of Park City and Lange Real Estate had a groundbreaking Friday on a 160-acre development that will include retail shops, restaurants and sports facilities. The Champtown Development has been designed as a major tourist destination.
The $500 million project will be under construction near 53rd Street North and I-135. It will feature an aquarium from OdySea Aquarium of Scottsdale, Arizona. There will be youth baseball facilities with a stadium and eight fields. There will be a boardwalk with retail shops, a gas station and convenience store, and quick-service restaurants. A Butterfly Wonderland will also be created with a rainforest type of environment to serve as a butterfly conservatory.
The baseball fields are expected to be open in the summer of 2025, and the aquarium is expected to open in 2026.
