A west Wichita golf course will not be reopening this weekend as originally planned, as work continues to repair damage caused by winterkill to the fairways.
The Tex Consolver Golf Course at 1931 South Tyler Road was closed on May 29th so crews could begin work on the fairways, but that work has taken longer than expected.
Golf Wichita said the Junior Golf program will proceed as scheduled on Monday, June 10th at the Consolver golf course. After this event, the course will open to the public in a modified format as an 18-hole par 3 course, with carts restricted to paths only. This will allow the new fairway sprigs to dry out as crews begin to reduce the watering.
Normal play will resume when course conditions are favorable.
