Kansas Department of Transportation officials said a ramp at the Kellogg and I-135 interchange in Wichita will close for rehabilitation work starting Wednesday.
The closure will affect the exit ramp from northbound I-135 to westbound Kellogg. Crews will be working on a project that will involve milling, patching and a concrete overlay being placed on each side consecutively. Rehabilitation work on the bridge will occur Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Motorists should follow the signed detour on northbound I-135 to exit 6B and 2nd Street, then turn left on southbound I-135 to west Kellogg exit 6A.
This $1.3 million project is one of four phases in the bridge rehabilitation project scheduled this year at the I-135/U.S. 54 interchange. The bridge work will take place consecutively. This will be the second phase of the bridge and is set to conclude in early August, then the third bridge phase and closures will begin. It is estimated the last bridge in the four-phase project will conclude by late November, depending on weather conditions.
During construction, motorists are advised to stay alert and watch out for construction workers.
