A Sedgwick County judge has declared a Wichita man competent to stand trial for kidnapping incidents last year involving three children.

A hearing was held for 22-year-old Manasse’h Ward, who is facing charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated indecent liberties and rape.   A jury trial was scheduled for August 12th.

Ward was arrested in early January, 2023 after a 13-year-old girl reported being kidnapped by a man driving a blue vehicle in the 6600 block of East Boston.  The girl said the man tried to sexually assault her, then he let her go.   The next day, a boy and a girl were kidnapped while walking to Clark Elementary School.  The boy was released and the man drove off with the girl, who was later found safe.   Officers caught up with a suspect a short time later in the 6600 block of East Boston.
