To Cleveland, Ohio for today’s AWESOME. Could you run into a burning building one time to save a life.  How about twice. That’s exactly what 62-year-old John Stickovich did, proving not all heroes wear capes. A Veteran, on his way to work he saw a house consumed by fire and smoke and no fire trucks on scene.  He stopped, and saw a mom and child and she quickly told him her other baby was inside. Without thinking he ran toward the house, first trying to get in through a back door, before going in through and open door.  The smoke and fire was too much and he was forced out empty handed.  After asking the mother where the baby last was, he ran back in.  John says oxygen was running out and he was close to giving up and saving his own life when he heard the baby cry. Treated for smoke inhalation, John was hailed a hero. John said, “I feel wonderful that I could save the baby. That mother doesn’t have to mourn her baby. That baby gets to live today. I mean, I would do it for anybody, it doesn’t matter. And I would hope that somebody would do it for me.” The courage to run into a burning building twice to save a life…THAT’S AWESOME.
