An inmate serving time in a Sedgwick County case has died at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.
Officials said 49-year-old Scott Edward Wood died Friday afternoon. He was found unresponsive in his cell and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy has been ordered and an investigation is being conducted by corrections officials and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Wood was serving a 50-month sentence for convictions of drug possession and aggravated escape out of Sedgwick County.
