Grand Rapids Michigan is where we find the awesome today. When nurses graduate, there is a ‘pinning ceremony’. This one was extra special. In a heartwarming twist of fate, Isabella Vanklompenberg, a 22-year-old nursing graduate, experienced a poignant reunion during Davenport University’s Pinning Ceremony. Isabella was pinned by none other than Sara Longest, the neonatal intensive care nurse who once cared for Isabella when she was born prematurely and fighting for her life 22-years ago. For 42 days, Sara provided dedicated care to the fragile newborn before she could finally go home. A full circle moment when a NICU nurse helps a little baby who just couldn’t wait to come into the world to become a NICU nurse….THAT’S AWESOME.
