Officials with the Valley Center Department of Public Safety said Tuesday that a chicken was killed on the baseball diamond at the high school in an incident on April 20th.
The incident was reported by a Valley Center High School employee who contacted a school resource officer on Monday. The employee said the varsity baseball team had killed a chicken on the field before an away game. Police are still investigating.
The school district sent a letter to parents on Monday stating that the varsity baseball season has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation, which involves the entire baseball team and the entire coaching staff.
