Two tornadoes touched down early Tuesday morning in Greenwood County as severe storms moved across the state.

A tornado warning was issued around 4:30 a.m. and a tornado was confirmed around 4:45 about two miles southeast of Eureka.  A barn was destroyed and there were reports of damage to trees and fences.  Evergy reported customers without power in an area south of Eureka.  The tornado was measured as an EF-1 by the National Weather Service with an estimated peak wind speed of 107 miles an hour.

Another tornado was reported south of Virgil, with a rating of EF-2 and estimated wind speeds up to 118 miles an hour.   It was only on the ground for a brief time.

A tornado watch was issued for western Kansas Monday evening and early Tuesday, and another tornado watch has been issued for east central and northeast areas of Kansas until 9 a.m.    Chase, Marion and Greenwood counties were included in the watch.

More tornado warnings were issued in northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri later Tuesday morning and a tornado damaged several buildings near Smithville Lake, north of Kansas City.   A tornado was also reported on the ground near Howells, Nebraska.
