Here are today’s 5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

1. If at first he doesn’t succeed, he will try, try again.  Donald Trump’s latest bid to delay the hush money trial has been rejected by a New York Appeals Court. Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts stemming from allegations he falsified business records to cover up payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

2. Wichita Public Schools will be offering open enrollment, when the new school year begins in August, but space is limited. The district has more than 40,000 students and is built to hold more than 60,000. Right now, though, it has 455 seats available for open enrollment transfers. To the east, Andover Public Schools has more than 300 seats open in their district of around 5,000.

3. KDOT is looking to change the way you get on to K-96 from places like Woodlawn and K-96 where traffic notoriously backs up.  One model they are looking that involves what they call 5 diamonds. The people who struggle with rotaries are REALLY gonna hate this

4. The US Environmental Protection Agency released rules yesterday requiring public water utilities to remove six common “forever chemicals” from the water supply within five years. PFAS, or perfluoroalkyl are water-repellent synthetic chemicals first developed in the early 20th century for use in textiles and fire suppression (watch overview). Studies have indicated that nondegradable polymers build up in humans and wildlife (see map), where they are linked to health risks, including cancer, hormone disruption, and weakened immune systems.

5. And with round 1 of the Masters starting today, the internet is still amazed how cheap the concessions are.  For example an egg salad sandwich is $1.50, the Masters Club is $3, beer is $6.  You know why they’re so cheap, because the membership dues are as much as $200,000…that’s a lot of sandwiches.
