Police in McPherson arrested a Hutchinson man after a foot chase through a Walmart store.
McPherson County deputies were called to a report of a vehicle in a ditch early Sunday near Kansas Highway 61 and 14th Avenue. No one was found in the area and the vehicle turned out to be stolen from a location in Hutchinson. Later in the morning, police had a report of a vehicle burglary in the 2100 block of East Kansas Avenue, and witnesses gave a description of a suspect to officers.
McPherson officers and deputies began searching for the man and there were reports that he was walking in and out of stores. Officers found him in a Walmart store and chased him until he ran out an emergency exit. He was caught on East Kansas Avenue. The man was booked on outstanding warrants and the McPherson County Attorney’s Office will decide on additional charges.
