A Wichita police dog has died after being diagnosed with cancer. Police Service Dog Odin had served with the department for five years.
Odin began his career in 2019 after completing the basic K-9 training with his handler, Officer Brandon Faulkner. He was responsible for or assisted in the seizure of over 163 pounds of illegal narcotics and 34 illegal firearms. Odin also apprehended 61 violent, felony suspects, and most of those suspects were apprehended using no force. Odin and Officer Faulkner also took part in K-9 demonstrations in school classrooms.
The Police Department said Odin began having health problems and it was discovered that he had cancer. He was laid to rest Friday.
