An unidentified man is dead after an officer-involved shooting Tuesday evening in Haysville.
Haysville Police Chief Jeff Whitfield told KFDI’s news partners at KWCH that officers were called to a home to check on a report of a man who was suicidal. He was not found at the home but officers spotted him a short time later inside a pickup in the parking lot of a liquor store in the 200 block of North Main. The man had a handgun and Chief Whitfield said the officers tried unsuccessfully to de-escalate the situation. Two officers fired their weapons and the man died at the scene.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
