An unidentified man was taken into custody Monday evening after a standoff at a police substation.
Police said the man walked into the Patrol South substation near Pawnee and Broadway around 7 p.m. He walked in through a malfunctioning back door and held a gun to his head, asking officers to shoot him.
A number of officers were called to the substation and traffic was blocked at the Pawnee and Broadway intersection. Officers were able to talk the 57-year-old Wichita man into surrendering after about 45 minutes of negotiations, and there were no injuries.
