The Wichita Area Builders Association is sponsoring its 70th annual Home Show this weekend at Century II. The event runs through Sunday at the Expo and Convention Halls.
The event actually began Wednesday with the first ever WABA Build My Future event for area high school students. It gave the students a day of hands-on experiences, exhibits and information on career opportunities in the building industry. Association president Wess Galyon said there’s a need for workers in the various trades and the Build My Future event has been successful in other communities in creating interest among high school students.
The Home Show will have more than 300 exhibitors with various products and services related to home improvement, and this will be the largest Home Show in over a decade. Galyon said the show has attracted more retail businesses in recent years.
Admission is $12 for adults and $9 for seniors 65 and older. Students older than 12 will have a $7 admission fee and children 12 and under get in free. The hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
