The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Phoenix, Arizona man in connection with a cold case homicide from 1982 in Hutchinson.

A 75-year-old man was arrested by Phoenix police, and he was later brought to Kansas to be booked into the Reno County jail.   He was booked for first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.   A first appearance is scheduled Friday afternoon in Reno County District Court.

The case involves the murder of 44-year-old Michael McKeown, who was found dead on March 24th, 1982.  It’s believed that he was shot and killed in his car the night before, while it was parked in a lot outside an apartment at 320 East Sherman in Hutchinson.

The KBI said agents conducted several key interviews in three states, gathering the evidence to proceed with charges.  The investigation is continuing.
