Wichita libraries to screen Oscar-nominated short films

The Wichita Public Library is having its 38th annual Academy Award Short Film Festival, with screenings of nominated short films in the live action, animation and documentary categories.

Library spokesman Sean Jones said all 15 films will be shown at the Advanced Learning Library on Saturday, March 2nd, and again on March 9th.   Here is the full schedule:

  • March 2: All Day Screening @ Advanced Learning Library (711 W. 2nd St.), 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • March 3: Animation & Live Action @ Alford Branch Library (3447 S. Meridian), 1:15-4:45 p.m.
  • March 5: Animation & Live Action @ Advanced Learning Library (711 W. 2nd St.), 4:30-7:30 p.m.
  • March 7: Documentaries @ Advanced Learning Library (711 W. 2nd St.), 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • March 8: Documentaries @ Rockwell Branch Library (5939 E. 9th St.), 1-5 p.m.
  • March 9: All Day Screening @ Advanced Learning Library (711 W. 2nd St.), 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

The short films have been screened in Wichita since 1986.   To qualify as a short film for the Academy Awards, films must be less than 40 minutes.  The films are not rated and may not be suitable for all audiences.

The Academy Awards ceremony will be held March 10th.
