Today, JJ’s Star Spangled Salute honors Petty Officer 2nd Class Robert Burns, a native of the Wichita and Derby area. Robert serves the U.S. Navy aboard USS Tripoli operating out of San Diego. Burns graduated from Derby High School in 2011. The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Wichita. “My father always said, ‘Nothing to it, but to do it,’ and that lesson has stayed with me through my six years,” said Burns. “Whenever I come across an obstacle or a hurdle, I tell myself, ‘Just start, you’ll figure it out.'” Thank you for making us proud Robert and THANK YOU for your service
