Today, JJ’s Star Spangled Salute honors 99-year-old WWII Veteran Samuel Meyer.  Samuel owns Meyer The Hatter hat shop in New Orleans.  He’s basically that city’s version of our very own Hat Man Jack. At 18, Samuel was drafted into service. Samuel served in the 485th Fighter Squadron, 370th Fighter Group, Ninth Air Force. Tomorrow he will receive the French National Order of the Legion of Honor to the rank of Chevalier. The Legion of Honor is the highest military and civil decoration awarded in France. He is receiving this award for his work as an aircraft armorer, responsible for loading P-38 fighter planes with bullets, and bombs, which helped liberate Nazi-occupied France during the war. Congratulations Samuel and THANK YOU for your service.
