Before we say goodbye to January, here a the 5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW for Jan. 31st. 2024

1. House Republicans voted early Wednesday to advance their impeachment articles against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, moving closer to taking the rare step of impeaching a Cabinet official. The move sets up a vote on the articles by the full House of Representatives, though the date of that vote has not yet been set.

2. The NFL may be realizing their mistake about having Usher headline this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.  Reports have the league is  throwing lots of money at Taylor Swift to join Usher for the show.  Taylor, apparently didn’t read the script, because she has turned all offers down.

3.  Start making your Florida travel plans for 2025, so you can be one of the first. Set to open in 2025, NBCUniversal’s newest Florida-based theme park will feature five immersive lands, which also include the movie monsters-inspired Dark Universe and the previously announced Super Nintendo World.

4. An atmospheric river is set to bring torrential rains and strong winds along the West Coast this week, affecting millions of Americans. The weather system, known as a “Pineapple Express” because it originates near Hawaii, extends 3,000 miles.  California is bracing for 8 inches or more of rain, while here in Kansas, up to 2 inches or rain is expected this weekend.

5. and Tampa residents are filing noise complaints in one neighborhood because of what sounds like loud bass thumping at all hours. The strange thing is, there are no parties going on at the time.  Turns out, Drum Fish could be to blame.  The fish, popular to the waters around Tampa emit a deep bass sound at night, as a form of ‘bass drum bootie call’.  That’s right, even fish know that it’s all about the bass! No trebble hook…
