The Wichita Art Museum is opening a new featured exhibition with a diverse collection of works from American artists.
The exhibit is called Making American Artists: Stories from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts 1776-1976. The exhibit showcases 74 works that represent some of the “greatest hits” in paintings and sculptures by beloved, as well as traditionally underrepresented, artists spanning 200 years of American art history.
The exhibit includes stories of women artists, LGBTQ+ artists, and artists of color within a visual and thematic structure. It’s designed to present a fresh perspective on the history of American art.
The exhibit opens January 28th and runs through April 21st.
