Vandals have cut down and stolen the Jackie Robinson statue at McAdams Park sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday.
The statue was donated to the park by League 42, which plays its baseball games at the baseball fields there. The youth baseball program was named in honor of Robinson, the first Black player in Major League Baseball. League 42 officials say they are devastated by the theft.
Police released surveillance photos of a dark-colored, extended-cab pickup that investigators believe may have been involved. Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives at 268-4407, Crime Stoppers at 267-2111 or the See Something Say Something hotline at 519-2282.
