Another day of freezing drizzle and fog will be expected for Kansas on Tuesday. This is not expected to be a major icing event but there could be a light glaze on streets and highways again for the morning commute.
A winter weather advisory will be in effect through 6 Tuesday morning for counties in central and northeastern Kansas. The advisory will include Butler, Harvey, McPherson, Marion, Chase and Saline counties.
A dense fog advisory will be in effect for the Wichita area and much of central and south central Kansas through noon Tuesday. The advisory will include Sedgwick, Kingman, Harper, Sumner, Reno, Harvey and McPherson counties. Visibility could be a quarter of a mile or less in some areas.
Areas of western Kansas could have freezing fog with some light accumulations of ice possible.
Freezing drizzle and freezing fog created a glaze on roadways across south central and southeast Kansas early Monday. Slick driving conditions caused a number of slide-offs and accidents across the Wichita area.
A winter weather advisory was in effect through noon Monday for south central and eastern Kansas. Wichita had street crews out early to put salt and sand on the major routes.
Some schools delayed classes or closed for the day. Schools in Oxford, Winfield and Arkansas City were closed. Cowley College went to remote learning for Monday
There could be more freezing drizzle in the area overnight Monday into Tuesday morning.
