Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita issued a statement saying the company is supporting and assisting an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board into an incident affecting an Alaska Airlines flight.
Boeing’s CEO said the incident where a panel blew out of one of their planes mid flight can never happen again. Dave Calhoun made the comments Tuesday in an address with Boeing employees. Calhoun said they are going to approach this by first acknowledging their mistake with complete transparency. On Friday, the door plug on an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft blew out during ascent. The FAA ordered a temporary grounding of that model of aircraft while inspections are made.
Spirit works on the fuselage for the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, and the company said it is working with Boeing on the issue:
