The Association of Community Mental Health Centers of Kansas has announced a new facility that is aimed at reshaping mental health care in the state.
The Kansas Behavioral Health Center of Excellence will be located in Wichita. It will provide treatment for the underserved by providing a range of high-quality services and training opportunities. The Center will also work with health care organizations, COMCARE of Sedgwick County and educational institutions to help increase the availability of trained mental health care workers in the community.
The Center will have a focus on traditionally underserved populations, such as veterans, youth in foster care, and those in school-based settings.
Aetna Better Health of Kansas has pledged $75,000 to support the programs of the center.
