Wichita and Sedgwick County offices are closed Friday for observance of Veterans Day, which is Saturday, November 11th.   State and federal offices will be closed as well.

The U.S. Postal Service will have normal operations with mail delivery on Friday, but post offices will be closed Saturday with no mail delivery.

In Wichita, facilities that will be closed on Friday include City Hall, neighborhood resource centers, Wichita Public Library locations, CityArts, the Wichita Art Museum, the Great Plains Nature Center, and the WATER Center.    Sedgwick County offices will be closed Friday.

On Saturday, the Wichita Public Library locations and the Great Plains Nature Center will be closed, and there will be no Wichita Transit or Paratransit service.   CityArts will be open regular hours on Saturday.

The Great Plains Nature Center has moved to its winter hours, in effect from November through February.  It will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A ceremony will be held at 9:30 Saturday morning at Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Wichita.   It will feature comments from Greg Zuercher, an Army and Air Force veteran who is working to restore an aircraft like the one flown by Wichita pilot Erwin Bleckley during World War I.

The annual Veterans Day parade will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in downtown Wichita.  The parade begins on Main Street near Murdock and it will move south to 1st Street, then west to McLean, then it will end at Exploration Place.

The Sedgwick County Zoo will offer free admission on Saturday, Veteran’s Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to veterans and military personnel and their immediate families.  A valid ID will be required and the free admission does not apply to tickets for the Wild Lights display.
