The Kansas Bureau of Investigation said it has been watching the situation with Israel’s war on Hamas after last weekend terrorist attacks.
The founder of Hamas called for a “Friday of Al-Aqsa Flood” or a day of general mobilization around the world. That is considered to be a “global day of jihad.”
KBI officials said they have been in communication with local, state and federal agencies across Kansas, and their top priority is the safety and security of Kansans. They said there are no credible threats at this time.
Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan issued a statement on social media in response to the situation:
“The Wichita Police Department has remained in contact with our local, state, and federal government partners to keep our community safe.
Currently, we do not have any information indicating specific threats of violence or planned protests in the Wichita area. We have remained in contact with community and religious leaders to provide pertinent information and reassure them during this time so they may make informed decisions regarding their normal operations.
We urge the community to remain calm and peaceful. The safety and security of all our communities is our number one priority. We remind residents to stay vigilant and report anything suspicious to local law enforcement officials.”
