Finally Fall.  I know you typically think “Finally Friday” – but FINALLY FALL….finally fire pit……so let’s get into the weekend with the 5 things you need to know in today’s That’s Trending

1. Let’s start with what’s going on around town – The 21st Annual Tall Grass Film Festival runs through the weekend at various locations. Look out for all the runners Sunday Morning it’s the Prairie Fire Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K and Friendly 5K.

2. Last night on Thursday Night Football, the Bears seemed like a completely different team as they dominated the Commanders.  Maybe they did it for Dick Butkus, the legendary Bears Hall of Famer – he passed away yesterday at the age of 80

3. Earlier this morning the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize was announced – this year, it goes to jailed Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi for “her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all.”

4. It seems that everything we thought we knew about cats is wrong.  A new study says that cats purr involuntarily with no signals or instruction from the brain. Instead, fibrous pads along the cat’s vocal cords appear to vibrate without specific brain signals.  So, the next time your loving on your cat, and it’s purring, it has nothing to do with you.

5. And aluminum foil is back to help with our rececption.  Just like when your parents and grandparents put aluminum foil on their tv antenna or radio antenna to boost the signal, you can now put a C-shaped piece of aluminium foil behind your router to boost your wi-fi signal.  This is according to a trending hack and research done at Dartmouth University.  Something tells me that instead of putting the aluminum foil behind the router, the researchers at Dartmouth University should be putting it on their head.
