UPDATE:  The B-29 Doc Pull-A-Plane event scheduled for Saturday, October 7th has been postponed because the plane’s return to Wichita has been delayed.   Doc has been on a month-long tour in Utah, California and Arizona.   Executive Director Josh Wells with the B-29 Doc Hangar, Education and Visitors Center said a maintenance condition was found with the propeller on the No. 2 engine, and the propeller was removed and sent to a vendor for more inspection and repair.

Wells said the team is working to return Doc to service and get it back to Wichita on Friday, but that won’t be enough time to set up and prepare for the Pull-A-Plane event.  It has been rescheduled for March 9th, 2024.

The B-29 Doc Center will continue to host the B-25 Miss Mitchell aircraft, and it will be available for rides and ground tours.  When Doc returns, it will join Miss Mitchell in the hangar but its scheduled ride flights for Sunday have been canceled due to aircraft maintenance.

(previous story)

A B-25 aircraft from the Commemorative Air Force will be making a stop in Wichita for a special event at the B-29 Doc Hangar.

The aircraft, Miss Mitchell, will be in Wichita from October 4th through the 8th.  The aircraft is from the Minnesota Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, and it was among the B-25s that flew missions during World War Two.   Miss Mitchell was given a complete restoration and it had its first flight in April, 1992.

The B-25 will be available for ride flight experiences from October 5th through the 8th.
