There is a lot to unpack from last night’s first ever People’s Choice Country Awards.
Jelly Roll won the award for Male Artist and got a surprise when someone tossed a bag of weed to him on stage while he was performing Toby Keith’s “Should’ve Been A Cowboy”
Toby Keith accepted his Icon Award, with his usual Toby Keith swagger and humor
Toby also provided an update on his cancer battle saying it’s been a rollercoaster
Everyone looked their best on the red carpet – from Lauren Alaina showing off her fiance and her engagement ring, to the pregnant and glowing Gabby Barrett
There were a lot of great moments last night right up until Jelly Roll closed out the show. It was a pretty great first impression.
Eric Church sat down with Equire and talked about songs built on political divide. He acknowledges that political outrage is a central component in today’s country music. However, he also believes that in the long run, that division won’t be the defining factor of its best songs.
You’ll also remember Eric Church is part of that ownership group that took ownership of the Charlotte Hornets from Michael Jordan. When asked if he could score points on Jordan in a one-on-one game, Eric said maybe if Jordan was 10 years older and Eric got the ball first.
Lots of new music today. Thomas Rhett’s vinyl box set “20 Number 1’s” including the bonus track with Morgan Wallen “Mamaw’s House”
Wrote this song over zoom with @morganwallen a few years ago. Really glad it’s finally out for y’all to hear. Now go call your grandmothers! #mamawshouse #20numberones pic.twitter.com/2UDhgp6sPn
