A Wichita man has been charged in connection with a shooting that left one woman dead and another with critical injuries.
A hearing was held Tuesday for 30-year-old Matthew Alexander III of Wichita, and he was charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder or in the alternative, aggravated battery. He was also charged with aggravated assault, criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, kidnapping, aggravated burglary, and a misdemeanor charge of battery.
Bond for Alexander was set at two million dollars and his next court appearance was scheduled for October 5th.
Alexander was arrested after a shooting incident on the night of September 21st in the 800 block of South Mission, in a neighborhood near Lincoln and Woodlawn. 48-year-old Adraine Kenney of Wichita was killed and a 22-year-old woman was critically injured. Police said Alexander and the two victims knew each other and there was a disturbance that led to the shooting.
