Welcome to Friday!  The last Friday in August. The last weekend in August.  Now, despite it being 103 degrees today, those Fall feelings are on the doorstep.  Let’s get you ready with the 5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW.

1. History was made with the mug shot seen round the world as Donald Trump surrendered to authorities in Georgia, was book following charges from his 4th inditment and then was released on the predetermined $200K bail. Trump is the first President to ever pose for a mug shot. The closest incident to this was the 1872 arrest of President Ulysses S. Grant, who was taken to a local police station in Washington, D.C. for speeding in his horse-drawn carriage. No mug shot was taken in the incident.

2. The kick-off of the 2023-24 college football season is this weekend with a pair of games. No. 13 Notre Dame takes on Navy and No. 6 USC plays San Jose State.

3. Yesterday in Wichita, 246 people were naturalized and sworn in as new U.S. citizens at a ceremony on the campus of WSU.

4. The wrestling world is still dealing with the shock of the death of WWE Wrestler Bray Wyatt.  Considered one of the brightest, most innovative stars in sport entertainment, Bray died at the age of 36.  He had been out of the spotlight over the last few months dealing with an undisclosed illness, but no cause of death has yet been released.

5. And in Missouri, a woman has been arrested on first degree arson charges after walking into a home occupied by 3 other people, pouring gasoline onto a pile of clothes and lighting what is being described as a spicy tortilla chip on fire to start the blaze. See, this is another reason I won’t eat anything labeled “Flaming Hot”
